Young bowlers honored at Grape Belt awards banquet
GOWANDA — The 44th annual awards banquet for the Grape Belt USBC Youth Bowling Association was recently held at the Slovenian Club of Gowanda. The association is comprised of youth bowlers, ages 4-20, from both Lucky Lanes in Fredonia and K & L Lanes in Gowanda and is governed by the United States Bowling Congress (USBC).
This year’s tournament was hosted by at K &L Lanes. President of the association, Greg Haase, served as emcee, while K & L Lanes proprietor, Doug Heckman, presented the trophies to the bowlers. Smith & Smith Recreation of Fredonia provided trophies and plaques.
Team winners in the tournament were: Class A scratch, Disciples of Haase (2151), Travis Langworthy, Phillip Narraway, Trace MacKenzie, and Bryson Pacos. Class A handicap, The Exterminators (2371), Nathan Manzella, Brayden Smith, Ryan Kelly, and Robert Kozlowski. Class C scratch & handicap, Lil’ Justice League (897-2499), Alexandra Kerstetter, Emily Lillie, Alexander Lucas, and Jordan Kelly.
Doubles handicap winners were: Class A Scratch, Travis Langworthy & Phillip Narraway (1052). Class A handicap, Brandon Erick & Nathanial Barlette-Dye (1296). Class B scratch & handicap, Summer Clark & Kristin Wise (807-1252). Class C Scratch, Alexandra Kerstetter & Emily Lillie (773). Class C Handicap, Jack Frost III & Sydney Frost (1386).
Girls Singles event winners included: Class A scratch, Rachel Glowniak (512) and Class A handicap, Summer Clark (653). Class B scratch & handicap Kristin Wise (396-639). Class C scratch & handicap, Alexandra Kerstetter (258-696). Boys Singles: Class A scratch, Jared Glowniak (568) and Class A handicap, Brandon Erick (703). Class B scratch & handicap, Kenneth Steklasa (499-664). Class C scratch, Brady Helmer (381) and Class C handicap, Tyler Johnson (702).
Winners of All Events for the girls: Class A scratch, Rachel Glowniak (1646) and handicap, Mariah Glowniak (1822). Class C scratch & handicap, Alexandra Kerstetter (735-2049).
Boys All Events: Class A scratch, Phillip Narraway (1637) and handicap, Travis Langworthy (1763). Class B scratch & handicap, Ryan Kelly (1242-1800); Class C scratch & handicap, Jordan Kelly (998-1979).
High scores of the tournament for girls went to Makayla Pasierb for high scratch & handicap games with a 214-246, Rachel Glowniak for high scratch series of 580, and Alexandra Kerstetter for high handicap series of 696. The high scores for the boys were Matthew Agle with the high scratch & handicap games of 236-277, Phillip Narraway with the high scratch series of 574, and Brandon Erick with the high handicap series of 703.
Grape Belt USBC Youth Association season high averages for 2017-18 were also awarded. High average for the bantam division (ages 6-8) were Olivia Rivera (89.38) and Zakary Clark (102.56). Prep division (ages 9-11) high averages were Emma Patterson (116.90) and Robert Kozlowski (162.73). Junior (ages 12-15) division high averages were Rachel Glowniak (184.30) and Michael Dispense (184.20). High averages for the major (ages 16-20) division were Hannah Ellman (164.33) and Kurt Stitzel (200.97).
