Lake Shore 74, Maryvale 56

MARYVALE — The Lady Eagles of Lake Shore finished off a perfect season in ECIC 3 with a 74-56 win on the road at Maryvale High School on Tuesday night.

Lake Shore (16-2, 12-0) led by only a point after the first quarter and trailed by two at halftime, but “stepped up in the third,” according to Lake Shore coach Danielle Arnone.

With a shorthanded team on the night, Tuesday was “definitely a test,” according to Arnone.

Though they may have not had the whole roster available, the Cornfield twins did more than enough to lead Lake Shore to the win. Shawni Cornfield led the way with 30 points, along with 10 rebounds and seven steals. Lani Cornfield had 15 points, to go with eight steals, four assists and four rebounds. Celina Park had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Lake Shore finishes off the regular season on Thursday, at home, against the Fredonia Lady ‘Billies in a non-league game.

Williamsville North 54, Dunkirk 42

WILLIAMSVILLE — The Dunkirk Lady Marauders saw their regular season come to an end on Tuesday with a 54-42 loss to Williamsville North on the road.

After an 8-0 start to the season, the Lady Marauders have been hit hard by injuries, illnesses and a challenging league schedule to finish the regular season at 10-10. The Lady Marauders went 2-8 in league games this year, with both wins coming against the Fredonia Lady ‘Billies. The Lady Marauders have lost their last 10 games to opponents other than Fredonia.

Dunkirk now awaits a sectional playoff matchup, which will be determined at the playoff seeding meeting at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
