Special to The OBSERVER

Fredonia men’s hockey will open its 2019-20 season with a SUNYAC series against Morrisville State on Fri., Nov. 1 and Sat., Nov. 2.

The Blue Devils will face off at home 10 other times as part of their 25-game regular-season schedule. It includes the two traditional fundraisers — the Stroke Awareness Game (Sat., Dec. 7 vs. Oswego) and Pink The Rink (Sat., Feb. 8 vs. Potsdam) — plus a new promotion, a Teddy Bear Toss on Sat., Dec. 14. Stuffed toys brought by spectators will be collected and distributed to needy area children as holiday gifts.

In addition to the game-day promotions, Senior Night ceremonies will be held prior to the regular-season home finale Sat., Feb. 15 vs. Geneseo.

The Blue Devils’ road schedule includes two games in the Castleton Tournament on Fri., Nov. 29 and Sat., Nov. 30. It’ll be a reunion of sorts for Head Coach Jeff Meredith and two of his former assistant coaches. Castleton is coached by Bill Silengo, a Fredonia assistant for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. Curry — Fredonia’s opponent in the Friday game — is coached by TJ Manastersky, who assisted Meredith from 2009-10 through 2011-12.

The dean of SUNYAC head coaches, Meredith is starting his 32nd season behind the Blue Devil bench.
