Westfield/Brocton gets win over the Black Knights on Senior Night, 5-0

WESTFIELD — The Westfield/Brocton Wolverines continued their hot start to the season with a win over Silver Creek/Forestville on Senior Night, 5-0, in a Section VI CCAA Division II Central boys soccer game in Westfield, on Monday.

The Black Knights held their own with the Wolverines to start the game, but it’s only a matter of time before the top team in the division gets rolling. Cooper Harris started the scoring in the 27th minute on a goal from Josh Heim, and gave the Wolverines a 1-0 lead.

“Silver Creek did a great job competing throughout first half,” stated Westfield/Brocton head coach Jared Winder. “Until we broke out with a goal. Broke it open through second half with a lot of opportunities.”

As the game went on the Wolverines started to pour it on and ran away with the lead. The goals came in order of Jason Almeter from Nathan Culbreth, Culbreth from Gabe Morello, Almeter from Morello then Morello from Heim to get the 5-0 final. Michael Johnson was flawless in goal for the Wolverines as he made four saves in the shut out.

“Tonight was our senior night,” added Coach Winder. “We came out and played a nice complete game. Seniors really represented our team well.”

Jeremy Wilcox made 12 saves in the effort for Silver Creek/Forestville.

The Wolverines are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Pine Valley/Gowanda and the Black Knights head to Frewsburg on Wednesday.

North Collins 5, Pine Valley/Gowanda 1

NORTH COLLINS — The North Collins Eagles (3-5, 3-3) earned a big home win over Pine Valley/Gowanda (2-9, 1-5), 5-1 in a Section VI CCAA Division II Central boys soccer match at North Collins High School, on Monday.

The Eagles offense was led by Alex Tejiera who scored a hattrick in the first 20 minutes, Alex received assists from Anthony Puntillo, Christian Loretto and Carson Tejiera. In the second half, North Collins added to its lead with a Carson Tejiera goal assisted by Puntillo and another Alex Tejiera goal assisted by Loretto.

North Collins is back in action on Wednesday when they host Maple Grove and Pine Valley/Gowanda hosts Westfield/Brocton on Wednesday.
