Blue Devils women falter in fourth quarter

CLEVELAND, OH — The Fredonia State women’s basketball team hung tight with Capital before falling apart in the fourth quarter in a 77-50 loss at the John Carroll Classic on Saturday. The Devils trailed 46-42 after three quarters of play before the Crusaders exploded for 31 points in the final frame, while limiting the Devils to eight points.

Rae White led the Devils with 16 points and freshman Audrey Craffey added 10 points off the bench.

The Devils struggled on the boards, with Capital out-rebounding them 44-26.

Capital shot 45 percent from the floor to the Devils 35 percent. The Crusaders were 12 of 18 from the field in the fourth quarter. The Devils were 0 for 5, but did convert eight of 10 free throws.

Following the tournament, senior Anna Chiacchia was named All Tournament. She finished with five points and five rebounds vs. Capital.

The Devils fall to 1-2, while Capital improves to 2-1.
