Special to the OBSERVER

Lucky Lanes Junior Bowling announced the winners of the Priscilla Seybold Memorial Singles Tournament held Feb. 9 at Lucky Lanes. This is the third year for the tournament, which was renamed this year after Priscilla Seybold, who was one of the most instrumental advocates for youth bowling in northern Chautauqua County. Seybold volunteered many days during the bowling season as association secretary to the former Grape Belt Youth Bowling Association. She rarely missed a Saturday of youth bowling at Lucky Lanes to coach and help with the program as secretary and setting up tournaments.

Bowlers qualified during league play on Nov. 9 and Jan. 18 to enter the finals. Eighty-eight bowlers from ages 6 to 20 then packed the lanes on Feb. 9 to compete for over $2,500 in educational assistance.

Scores used to determine the winners were from the three games bowled in the finals, plus handicap based on the bowler’s averages. Divisions are based on the leagues the bowlers compete in regularly on Saturday and separated into girls and boys.

Winners of a $300 educational award in the Senior Leagues (ages 20 & under) were Tristian Olsen for the girls and Jacob Marsh for the boys. Second place of $200 was awarded to Gillian Reed (girls) division and Evan Laurito (boys). There were more bowlers in the boy’s division, adding a third place of $100 to Aiden Weber.

In the Lucky Strikers Leagues (ages 15 & under), first place was awarded $200 to Leah Hinds Morrison (girls) and Drevin Draggett (boys). Second place went to Aleah Dloniak-Kucmierz and Gabe Valentine, as they earned $100 educational awards. Daniel Cook finished third place for the boys, which earned $75.

The Sunshine Leagues (ages 12 & under) each had a first place award of $150 and second place of $75 for the girls and boys. Winners in the girls divisions were Emma Nickerson and Alexandra Kerstetter, while the boys winners were Zakary Clark and Michael Glowniak.

The youngest bowlers, the Bantam Leagues (ages 6 to 8) started earning money to be put aside until they enter a secondary educational institution. First place winners of $100 went to Chloe Wisniewski and Max Hernandez. Second place of $50 went to Stevie Rivera and Gavin Johnson.
