Brawdy earns first win as Gowanda’s coach
GOWANDA — A 16-4 third quarter led Gowanda to first-year head coach Lucas Brawdy’s first career victory, 44-18, over Falconer in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 East action.
John Ondus scored 6 of his game-high 18 points during the decisive quarter for the Panthers (1-1, 1-1). Carter Rosier added 12 points in the win.
“It’s a nice feeling to feel like I can help these guys,” Brawdy said. “Hopefully there’s a lot more (wins) to come.”
Nick Erickson led Falconer (0-2, 0-2) with 11 points.

Noah Adams led the Thunderbirds (2-1) with 12 points and 11 rebounds; Michael Anderson and Nate Engdahl each had 11 points; and Gavin Sauerland grabbed seven rebounds.
Drake Pierce led the Cougars (0-4) with 15 points and five steals; Nick Russo had 11 points; and Connor Austin had seven steals and five rebounds.

2ND QUARTER KEY FOR ELLICOTTVILLE
NORTH COLLINS — Keyed by 7 points from Logan Grinols, Ellicottville outscored North Collins, 18-3, in the second quarter en route to a 68-24 Division 2 East victory.
Ellicottville, which led 10-6 after the first quarter, led 28-9 at halftime despite 4-of-20 shooting from the free throw line in the opening 16 minutes.
“We just struggled to find a rhythm because there was a stoppage almost every possession,” Ellicottville head coach Dave McCann said. “We weren’t playing poorly, but once we got in a rhythm midway through the second quarter we were fine.”
Grinols finished with 16 points to go along with five assists and three steals; Wyatt Chudy had 15 points and eight rebounds; Leif Jimerson had 14 points, six rebounds and six steals; and Clayton Rowland had 10 points and 15 rebounds.
Chris Smith led North Collins (0-2, 0-2) with 6 points.
