Fredonia St. softball earns split of Sunday twin bill

BROCKPORT — Fredonia State won a see-saw, extra-inning slugfest, 14-11, in the second game of a doubleheader with Brockport after dropping the opener 4-1 in SUNYAC women’s softball Sunday.

Emily Chelius singled in the go-ahead run and Alyssa Piniewski delivered a two-run single to provide the winning margin to break an 11-11 tie after seven innings.

The Blue Devils survived after squandering leads of 9-1 and 11-9 as Katie Yudin, the Game 2 starter, returned to the circle in the seventh to pitch in and out of a bases-loaded jam. Yudin earned the pitching win.
