Marauders win on Senior Night

The Dunkirk Marauders softball team could not have had a better Senior Night for their 12th-graders.
The Marauders (3-6, 3-5) dominated the Allegany-Limestone Gators 13-1 in five innings for a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West victory on Friday.
“Our senior game couldn’t have gone better,” said Dunkirk head coach Tonia Piede. “They all got to play and they all made plays. I’m proud of the way they played today.
The four Dunkirk seniors are Jamaladie Pacheco, Paige Mullen, Summer Clark and Alyssa Slimak. All four contributed to the win, but Pacheco stood out with her performance at the plate and in the circle.
“She was the Player of the Game for her senior game,” Piede said about Pacheco. “Jamaladie took command of the game.”
From the circle, Pacheco pitched all five innings, struck out five and gave up just three hits in the win. At the plate, she went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Also standing out for Dunkirk was Gracey Kenner with two hits.
DELLOW SCORES WINNER
BEMUS POINT — Haleigh Dellow scored the game-winning run in the top of the 10th inning as Westfield beat Maple Grove 2-1 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West softball Friday.
Dellow started on second base to begin the 10th inning and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Eva Gnadzinski. Tanleigh Bestine then reached on a bunt of her own as the Red Dragons (3-5, 3-5) kept Dellow at third. After Bestine stole second, Sydney Hotchkiss laid down a bunt to plate Dellow.
Eliza Dawes started at second base in the bottom of the 10th inning and after a strikeout, the Wolverines (11-1, 7-1) turned a 1-3-2 double play for the final out of the game at home plate.
The teams were tied 1-1 when the game was suspended by rain after the fourth inning was completed last Monday. That day, Dellow led off with a triple and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Gnadzinski.
In the bottom of the third, Maple Grove’s Megan Lockwood walked and scored on Mansfield’s RBI double.
All told, Dellow went 10 innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out 12 and walking three.
Lydia Darr also threw 10 innings for the Red Dragons, allowing six hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out six and walking two.
NAGEL THROWS NO-HITTER
GOWANDA — Cameron Nagel was hurling special stuff for the Gowanda Panthers (9-4, 6-1) on Friday.
Nagel no-hit the Forestville Hornets, striking out 11 and walking two in the 13-1 Division 1 East victory.
Nagel helped herself out at the plate going 2 for 4 with a triple, Wassy Stevens added another triple going 4 for 5 and Addison Kota went 2 for 4 with a double.
Forestville’s (0-4, 0-4) Megan Gruber fooled several Panthers, striking out 10 in the loss.
CARDINALS SOAR PAST BULLDOGS
BROCTON — Brocton fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-0 Division 1 East loss to Randolph on Friday.
In the first inning, Randolph got its offense started with a Kendall Steward home run that scored two runs. Randolph scored on a double by Harper Smith in the first inning, a groundout by Andi Frame in the first inning, a groundout by Kyra Pence in the second inning, a single by Steward in the second inning and a single by Smith in the second inning.
Brocton struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Randolph, giving up ten runs.
A single by Angeline Rexford in the first inning was a positive for Brocton.
Steward got the start for Randolph, the righty went seven innings, allowing zero runs on six hits, striking out 14 and walking zero.
Madison Sears led things off on the rubber for Brocton. Sears lasted seven innings, allowing 12 hits and ten runs while striking out four.
Savanna Krystofiak went 2 for 3 at the plate to lead Brocton in hits.
LAWTON LEADS SC RALLY
SOUTH DAYTON — Ryleigh Lawton hit a two-run home run during a six-run fifth inning as Silver Creek rallied for a 6-5 Division 1 East victory over Pine Valley.
The Panthers (4-4, 1-4) led 3-0 after the fourth inning before the Black Knights’ uprising.
Lawton’s blast to left-center field plated Tessa Braidich, who had singled, to highlight the inning.
Amber Lockwood picked up the win in relief, throwing the final four innings while striking out two. She allowed five hits and walked one. Caitlyn Rice went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Silver Creek (7-2, 5-2).
Pine Valley got the potential tying run to second base in the seventh inning, but Lockwood got the final batter to pop out to the catcher.
Trista Farnham went 2 for 2 with two runs scored while Haleigha Hardy struck out four in the circle for the Panthers.

CHITESTER PITCHES GEM
PANAMA — Reagan Chitester tossed a three-hitter, struck out five and walked one to spark Frewsburg to a 13-1 Division 2 West game.
Chitester helped her own cause with a double. Teammates Peyton Yost, Elise Sposato, Braelyn Stelmack and Cadence Rodgers added a hit apiece for the Bears (7-4, 5-3).
Kylie Morgan and Maddie Lisciandro each had a double, and Katie Horton added a single for the Panthers (2-6, 2-6).
