A former high school and college basketball coach, whose accomplishments landed him in the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame, will be conducting a one-day clinic later this month to honor the memory of his late brother.
Mike Tramuta, a 2020 CSHOF inductee, will conduct the inaugural Jerry Tramuta Memorial Coaches Basketball Clinic from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Clarion Hotel conference room, 30 Lake Shore Drive East in Dunkirk.
A former Cardinal Mindszenty and Fredonia State athlete, Jerry Tramuta was an outstanding basketball player. At 5 foot, 7 inches, he was selected to the Bishop Smith All-Catholic team as a junior and a senior. He was killed in an auto accident in 1968 at 24 years old.

Included on the clinic itinerary — registration will be held from 7:30-9 a.m. — will be team defense (from 9-9:50 a.m.); team offense (10-10:50 a.m.); moving without the ball (11-11:50 a.m.); lunch (noon to 1 p.m., specials available at the Clarion Steelbound Restaurant); Fredonia State matchup zone (1-1:50 p.m.); sets, wing traps, corner traps and change situations (2-2:50 p.m.); fast-break transitions (3-3:50 p.m.); special defenses (4-4:50 p.m.); dinner (5-7 p.m., specials available at the Clarion Steelbound Restaurant); set plays (7-7:50 p.m.); and summary and questions/answers (8 p.m.).
The cost of the clinic is $100. Make checks payable to: “Mike Tramuta Coaches Clinic,” 237 Maple Ave., Dunkirk, 14048. The phone number is 716-983-1592. Paid reservations are requested by Oct. 20.
