Lawrie takes 600m at A/C meet

OBSERVER Photo by Tim Frank Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s Lucas Lawrie won the boys 600 meters on Saturday at the Section VI A/C Inter-Divisional meet hosted by Houghton University.

HOUGHTON — Several area athletes turned in top-five performances at the Section VI B/D Inter-Divisional indoor track meet Friday and the A/C Inter-Divisional on Saturday at Houghton University.

On Friday, Jamestown’s Madison Burgess and Emily Cardinale had winning individual performances.

Burgess took first in the 300-meter dash (43.83) and Cardinale won the pole vault (9-6). Jamestown’s boys also won the 1,600-meter relay in 3:40.62).

Burgess was also second in the 55-meter dash (7.74). Jamestown’s Noah Burch was the runnerup in the long jump (20-8.5). Jamestown’s girls were also second in the 1,600 meter relay (4:45.25) and 3,200-meter relay (10:57.97).

Jamestown’s Jarren Cotter was third in the 55-meter dash (6.82), while Burch was fifth (6.90). Fredonia/Westfield’s Lenieth Velez-Olmo was third in the 55-meter hurdles (9.35) and fifth in the 300-meter dash (39.70).

Jamestown’s Belle Johnson was third in the 1,500 meters (5:17.27) and her teammate, Nolan Hamilton was fifth (5:44.28).

Jamestown’s Stephen Hallberg was fourth in the 3,200 meters (10:21.33), Fredonia/Westfield’s Madeline Saunders was fourth in the high jump (4-10) and Jamestown’s Alivia Wofford was fourth in the weight throw (29-4.75).

Fifth-place performances were turned in by: London Hamilton in the 1,000 meters (3:22.22) and Jamestown’s Javiana Matos in the shot put (29-3).

On Saturday, Falconer/Frewsburg/Maple Grove/Randolph’s Cody Kent won the 3,200 meters in 10:02.79 and his teammate, Juvenal Diaz-Cortes, was second (10:11.06).

F/F/MG/R’s Ethan Verbosky won the 1,000 meters (2:42.86) and was second in the 1,600 meters (4:45.69).

Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s Lucas Lawrie won the 600 meters (1:27.57) and Salamanca’s Jesse Hill was second (1:30.39).

F/F/MG/R’s Jonah Foley won the triple jump (39-11), took second in the high jump (6-0) and was third in the long jump (19-8.25).

F/F/MG/R’s Talon Rowland won the 300 meters (35.85)

F/F/MG/R’s boys won the 1,600-meter relay (3:43.19) and Dunkirk/Silver Creek was second (3:49.96)

F/F/MG/R’s Charles Sundquist took second in the weight throw (49-6.5) and took third in the shot put (38-11.75)

Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s Leah Mays was second in the 1,500 meters (5:11.12) and Salamanca’s Isabella Milks tied for second in the high jump (4-10).

F/F/MG/R’s Mathias Sanfilippo was third (8:54.19), Leo Bollman was fourth (8:54.27) and Owen Eckman was fifth (8:59.24) in the boys 1,500-meter race walk.

F/F/MG/R’s Hannah Madonia was third in the 600 meters (1:47.30).

F/F/MG/R’s girls took third in the 1,600-meter relay (4:38.48).

Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s boys took third in the 3,200-meter relay (9:29.60) and F/F/MG/R was fourth (9:33.82).

F/F/MG/R’s Landon Stormer was fourth in the 55-meter dash (6.71) and his teammate, Sopheia Nelson-Bennett, was fourth in the girls 1,500-meter race walk (9:08.52).

F/F/MG/R’s boys took fourth in the 800-meter relay (1:37.65).

F/F/MG/R’s Zayne Cline was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.52) and tied for fifth in the high jump (5-4).

F/F/MG/R’s Gracie Conlan took fifth in the triple jump (34-0), Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s Jaziel Correa-Gomez was fifth in the pole vault (10-0), F/F/MG/R’s Brea Rubrecht was fifth in the weight throw (31-0.75) and F/F/MG/R’s Mary Lundmark tied for fifth in the pole vault (8-0).
