League leaders
Cougars’ Emiley Anderson named to CCAA D1 East First Team
The Frewsburg and Randolph girls basketball teams both shared the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 East title this season, but it was the Bears taking home the league awards.
Frewsburg freshman Jadyn Trocki averaged 21 points per game, 6.8 steals, 5.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds in leading the Bears to a share of the league championship, the Section VI Class C title and first New York State Public High School Athletic Association Far West Regional title in program history.
Older sister, junior Teghan Trocki, represented the Bears on the First Team after scoring 15.4 points per game and averaging 4.0 rebounds, 3.9 steals and 2.6 assists. Ava Jimerson was also a Second Team selection for the Bears, while Taytum Jimerson and Paige Whippo received honorable mention. Whippo was also the Frewsburg sportsmanship selection.
Sierra Beaver was voted the Coach of the Year, guiding the Bears to a share of the league title and the program’s deepest playoff run.
Randolph rejoined the East Division 1 and found itself on top again sharing the league title with Frewsburg.
Leading the Cardinals to a 9-1 record was freshman Skylar Herington, who averaged 21.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.8 assists for a First-Team selection. Junior Quinn Pence joined Herington on the First Team, averaging 14.4 points, 6.8 assists, 5.9 steals and 3.8 rebounds.
Zoey Dickerson and Sadie Steward received honorable mention, while Sierra Smith was the sportsmanship selection.
Portville senior Lilly Bentley averaged 20.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.0 assist for a First-Team selection. Fellow senior Jackie Scanlon and junior Ava Haynes earned Second-Team selections, while Emma Rhinehart was honorable mention and Meghan Lyle was the sportsmanship selection.
Cassadaga Valley junior Emiley Anderson rounded out the First Team, averaging 24.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 4.0 assists for the Cougars. Senior Andrea Johnson represented the Cougars on the Second Team, while Breonna Hopkins received honorable mention and Hailey Anderson was the sportsmanship selection.
Falconer junior Augustine Krenzer rounded out the Second Team, while Kamryn Harper was honorable mention. Falconer received the team sportsmanship award and senior Ashley Smith was the individual sportsmanship award winner.
Gowanda’s Corrina John and Lauren Kelly received honorable mention and Kelly was also the sportsmanship selection.
