James Hennessey
James C. Hennessey, 85, of Fredonia, N. Y., died at his home Saturday April 18, 2020 after a lengthy illness. Jim was born October 6, 1934 in Dunkirk, N.Y. to Charles and Sara (Whidden)Hennessey. He served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Jim received his associate’s degree in automotive technology from Morrisville State College and was owner of Hennessey’s Autobody in Fredonia. He changed careers going into the insurance business where he eventually became a Partner at Mayville-Tremaine Inc. Insurance Agency in Fredonia. Jim was active with several organizations including Boy Scouts of America, Jaycees, Beaver Club and Kiwanis Club. He was a longtime active member of the Fredonia First United Methodist Church. Jim was a supporter and active with Habitat for Humanity and also coached Babe Ruth Baseball. He enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards, and especially spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by: his wife, Nancy (Robertson) Hennessey, who he married in 1956; three children: Scott (Brenda) Hennessey, Gregory (Joy) Hennessey and Suzzane (Kevin) Voss; grandchildren: Sarah (Ron) Krzal, David (Brittany) Hennessey, Kendra (Chris) McLaughlin, Patrick Hennessey, Cameron Voss and Lucas Voss; great-grandchildren: Alexa and Carter Hennessey and Matthew Krzal; two sisters: Kathy Hennessey and Patricia Hennessey Finson; and his sister-in-law, Rochelle Hennessey.
Besides his parents, Charles and Sara (Whidden) Hennessey, Jim is predeceased a his sister, Margaret âPeggyã Wills and his brother, Robert Hennessey.
