Fredonia to let clerk live outside village
Fredonia has temporarily waived a requirement that its clerk live in the village.
The tragic passing of Annemarie Johnston left a giant hole at Village Hall, one which evidently cannot be filled under the current rules. The village Board of Trustees voted this week to allow the position to get filled by someone who lives outside of Fredonia.
“The board has received limited applications for the clerk position within the village,” according to the trustees’ resolution.
The waiver was approved for a 270-day period. The requirement that the clerk live in Fredonia is part of the village charter.
The Board of Trustees vote was 3-0. Ben Brauchler, Nicole Siracuse and Paul Wandel voted “aye,” while Jon Espersen and Michelle Twichell did not attend the meeting.
