GOWANDA — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5007 and Auxiliary, Gowanda, will award a graduating senior male and female student enlisted in a branch of the military each a $200 scholarship.

“It’s time we recognized these young people who are committing themselves to this unselfish act of giving and protecting all of us,” said VFW Post 5007 Commander Tom Howard.

Those students interested in being rewarded this recognition honor must complete an application available at Gowanda Central School office and submitting it by March 30, 2018 as indicated on the application. All candidates will then be contacted for an interview to be held right at the school by a VFW scholarship committee. Upon deciding the recipients, a picture and brief biography will be posted in local newspapers and recognition would be included in the school graduation ceremony.

Following graduation, the scholarships would be presented.
