Brocton baseball beats DHS, 13-5

The Brocton Bulldogs baseball team continued to roll Thursday by defeating the Dunkirk Marauders, 13-5, in non-league play at Al Stuhlmiller Field.

Brocton (13-1, 10-0) used some early runs in the first four innings to springboard ahead and never looked back.

Hunter Rizzo took the win and started on the mound for the Bulldogs and pitched into the sixth inning striking out three runs while allowing five hits.

Rizzo also helped himself at the plate as well, going 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI. Brocton also got help from Jordan Krystofiak who went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBI while also contributing a great game defensively at catcher. Ronald Brown smacked a triple and a double and Charlie Rexford had two hits of his own to contribute to the 13-run day.

“The expectation for us is high,” said Brocton interim coach Ray Rosas. “We’re playing some of our best baseball at the right time of the season.”

Dunkirk started Jared Glowniak on the mound who took the loss. Jaziah Rivera and Alexander Ahlstrom each contributed with two hits.

Dunkirk made a push in the sixth by scoring four of their five runs, but it was too little, too late.

“We don’t want to stop here with an undefeated season and league title,” mentioned Rosas. “We want to keep moving forward and be the best we can be.”
