CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT - Michael E. Hamernik, 50, of Dunkirk, was charged Tuesday with third-degree burglary. According to officials, at about 2:51 p.m., deputies responded to a burglary in progress on Shorewood Drive in the town of Dunkirk. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced that Ruben Medina, 20, of Jamestown, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy to possession with intent to distribute five grams or more methamphetamine, which carries a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum of 40 years, and a fine of $5,000,000. JAMESTOWN – A man has been taken into custody, accused of invading a person’s home based on the victim’s race. According to Jamestown Police, on Friday at about 2:15 p.m., officers from the first platoon responded to an address on the north side of the city for a home invasion.
