CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE – SHERMAN – Garrett M. Swan, 21, of Trenton, Ga., was charged Sunday night with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, moving from lane unsafely and unsafe tire. Around 9:45 p.m. Swan was involved in a motor vehicle accident in the town of Sherman and was charged following an investigation.

A Jamestown man has been released after being convicted for his role in drug activities in the city. U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross has announced that Kevin Hughes, 64, who was convicted of narcotics conspiracy, was sentenced to time served (approximately 17 months) by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. According to a police report, officers saw a vehicle allegedly commit a moving violation and pulled the vehicle over. Officers allegedly saw equipment in the vehicle commonly used for the weighing, mixing, packaging and distribution of narcotics along with a small quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine. CALVES INJURED IN BARN FIRE CHAUTAUQUA --- Several calves were injured in a Saturday morning blaze at a farm. At around 5:31 a.m., the Sherman Fire Department and several mutual aid departments responded to the Sherman Livestock Barn at 4151 Route 430 for a reported structure fire. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation.
