Rotary blood screening is good for your health and good for the community

Before sunrise on Saturday, Sept. 23, close to 200 participants came out for the 33rd Annual Dunkirk/Fredonia Rotary Blood Screening and Community Health Fair. Among the generous supporters of the Kaleida Health and Tim Hortons-sponsored event were Fredonia native Jenn Suhr, 2012 Olympic women’s pole vault gold-medalist, and her husband/coach Rick Suhr. Proceeds from this annual event are used to provide Rotary-sponsored health programs such as FREE child immunization clinics, the youth exchange program, and supports other beautification and construction projects in our community.
A huge shout-out goes to these community agencies and health-related businesses for helping to educate and inform the community: Forestville Chiropractic; Chautauqua County Cancer Services; Hillside Family of Agencies; Healthy Community Alliance; Blue Cross/Blue Shield of WNY; Willcare; Heritage Ministries and United Way of Northern Chautauqua County.
This year’s grand prize winner, Gene Sarek of Van Buren Bay, will enjoy health benefits of a Fitbit Charge 2.
