S.O.A.R. meeting

Chapter 4-1 of S.O.A.R., Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees, recently held its regular monthly meeting at the Steelworkers Local 2693 Union Hall on East 4th St.

President Jim Bickhart opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for all deceased members. Roll call of officers was taken.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read by secretary Theresa Bickhart. Treasurer Clarence Corbett gave the financial report.

Bickhart read a letter from John Shinn announcing S.O.A.R.’s affiliation with the ARA, Alliance of Retired Americans. This is sure to strengthen the position of both organizations.

The annual CSEA picnic will be held at Point Gratiot Aug. 24. Honored will be Roger Calanni, a strong voice for the steelworkers through the years.

Hank Hoisington gave his report on the recently held Worker’s Memorial celebration.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 25, at noon at the Union Hall. All retirees are welcome to attend.
