Chautauqua County Day at Chautauqua Institution

Route 394, free admission for Chautauqua County residents (with proof of residency) from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Children 12 and under always admitted free. Includes admission to all Hall of Philosophy, amphitheater events except for the evening Harry Connick Jr. concert, which requires a separate ticket purchase. For free parking that day, must contact the Institution prior to July 17.

Laurel Memorial Run /Walk Flag Relay

The Resource Center, 75 Jones & Gifford Ave., Jamestown, 8 a.m. Free community breakfast. At 8:30 a.m. area school children, other volunteers begin a 31-mile flag relay, arriving at The Resource Center’s facility at 186 Lake Shore Drive W., Dunkirk at about 1 p.m. for a victory celebration.

Silver Creek Village Square, check-in 7 a.m., run/walk 8:30 a.m. $25 adults, $20 ages 17, younger. For registration after July 16, add $5. 8K running race or 5K running race, 5K fitness walk, 1K fun walk, children’s runs, Laurel’s Legacy Walk for anyone with a disability. Event honors Laurel Hotelling, who had Down’s Syndrome. Proceeds benefit TRC, Filling the Gap to support disability awareness, prevention programs, enhance employment, training for adults with disabilities.

North East Firemen’s Cherry Festival
