Castellani Art Museum seeks work for non-juried exhibition

Artists in throughout the region are invited to submit their work for this non-juried exhibition set for February through August 2020.

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY — The Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University announces that plans are underway for the first comprehensive regional art exhibition to focus on women artists living in western New York. 20/20 Vision: Women Artists in Western New York will be on view at the CAM from February to August 2020.

This non-juried exhibition is open to all artists currently residing in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties. Submissions must be informed or inspired by the experience of women artists in these WNY counties. Visit the “Call for Work” at http://apps.niagara.edu/women-artists/ for complete information on how to submit work. This information is also available on our web site www.castellaniartmuseum.org.

This community-driven exhibition is inspired by the museum’s 2018 Meet Me at the CAM film and lecture series, which focused, in part, on the under-representation of women’s contributions to the visual arts. Responding to this well-documented history of inequity, 20/20 Vision will let the public experience the artists’ work without the barrier of the exclusionary jurying process. A series of academic, community, and special events will be presented throughout the exhibit time frame.

20/20 Vision: Women Artists in Western New York is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. For more information, please contact Michael J. Beam, Curator of Exhibitions and Special Projects, at 286-8286 or mjbeam@niagara.edu.
