God helps us through others

Last month I wrote about using God’s Word (the Bible) to grow in trusting God’s helping us through life. At the end I mentioned that God also gives us encouragement and help through other people. Dealing with the ups and downs of life; no one is alone. Even as God works in us, as the Holy Spirit uses the Word, to strengthen our faith He also uses other Christians around us. On Saturday morning, Nov. 10, the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Faith Formation Committee is hosting a Men’s conference for men of the area. The presenter for the event is Deacon Greg Feary of the Buffalo Diocese. His presentation is entitled, “A Catholic Man’s Journey of Faith.” Deacon Feary’s roots are in Batavia, New York, where he attended Ascension Parish and Notre Dame High School. Church to sponsor safe family Halloween event

First Baptist Church of Dunkirk wants to provide a fun and safe family event environment for trick-or-treaters. Trick or Treat with family and friends at First Baptist on Oct. 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. Church families will gather and park their cars in the large parking lot. They open their trunks, or the backs of their vehicles, and decorate them. Then they pass out candy from their trunks. There will be free hot dogs and water as long as they last.
