Three facing drug charges following traffic stop

JAMESTOWN — Three people were awaiting arraignment after police found a large quantity of illegal narcotics following a traffic stop this morning in Jamestown.

Facing several charges each are 38-year-old Lashon J. Hayes, 36-year-old Lawrence B. McGrigg and a 17-year-old female after a stop at 8:37 a.m. at Hazeltine and Baker streets.

In a press release, JPD said 34.2 grams of mushrooms, 10.7 grams of crack cocaine and 68.1 grams of marijuana were found in the vehicle.

All three were taken to Jamestown City Jail and held until they could appear in City Court. Hayes and the teenager were each charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

The teenage female also was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after she was alleged found with a small amount of crystal methamphetamine and five bags of heroin.

McGrigg was additionally charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana after he was found with 41.7 grams of marijuana, Jamestown police said.
