Gowanda Police Department

¯ On Jan. 22 at about 10:35 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on West Main Street for a loud exhaust. The driver, identified as Sterling S. Doctor, 26, of Gowanda was found to be in possession of an alleged twice-suspended license. Doctor was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and an exhaust system violation. He was released and is due to appear in Collins Town Court on a later date.

¯ On Jan. 24 at around 11:35 p.m., police were notified by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office of a vehicle that was reportedly heading to Gowanda with occupants that were allegedly intoxicated and involved in a domestic incident. Patrol located the vehicle on Chestnut Street and was found to be driven by Ann M. Wittrock, 48, of East Otto. Wittrock allegedly showed signs of intoxication and failed several sobriety tests. She also purportedly had a BAC of .11. Wittrock was charged with DWI and released. She is due to appear in Persia Town Court on a later date.

¯ On Jan. 26 at 1 a.m., David N. Payne, 28, allegedly violated an order of protection when he reportedly forced his way into the victim’s residence on Chestnut Street and refused to leave. Police upon arrival discovered Payne in the residence and in violation of the protection order. He was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and was released. He is due to appear in Persia Town Court on a later date.
