Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

¯ ELLERY — On June 11 at roughly 11:57 p.m., deputies responded to a reported rollover accident on Maple Grove Road. The operator, Marcus Lutgen, 29, of Dewittville, was allegedly trapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted by the Bemus Point Fire Department with the assistance of the County Medic. Subsequent investigation led to Lutgen’s arrest for DWI and several other vehicle and traffic charges. Lutgen was transported by Bemus Fire to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment of injuries and is to appear in Town of Ellery Court at a later date.

¯ WESTFIELD — On June 12 at about 8:33 a.m., an investigator with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle being driven erratically on Route 20. The vehicle was pulled over and the operator was identified as Elizabeth A. Wangelin, 33, of Hamburg. Wangelin was allegedly found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of narcotics and was placed under arrest. Wangelin was charged with DWAI – drugs and crossing hazard markings. Wangelin was released with traffic tickets and will appear in Town of Westfield Court at a later date.

¯ MAYVILLE — On June 14 at around 7:13 p.m., deputies responded to Water Street for a report of a disorderly person. Upon arrival, deputies located Clair S. Soliman, 66, of Mayville. Investigation found that Soliman had allegedly attempted to strike another individual with an empty liquor bottle. Soliman was taken into custody and charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment. Soliman was later brought to Chautauqua County Jail to await arraignment. She will answer her charges in Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.

New York State Police

ASHVILLE — On June 13, troopers responded to a residence where the complainant alleged that a battery charger was stolen from his barn earlier in the day. Joshua Danielson, 37, of Bemus Point, was identified as the suspect on the surveillance video, placed under arrest and charged with third-degree burglary. Danielson was processed at State Police Jamestown and transported to Chautauqua County Jail, pending arraignment.

Evans Police Department

¯ On June 8 at roughly 2:18 p.m., patrol observed a vehicle operator allegedly using a portable electronic device on Lake Shore Road. Patrol pulled the vehicle over and identified the driver as Morgan P. Herlan, 19, of Evans. Through investigation, it was found that Herlan’s license was suspended. Herlan was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a motor vehicle while using a portable electronic device. The vehicle was turned over to a valid, licensed operator and Herlan was transported to Evans Police Department for processing. Herlan was released with appearance tickets and will appear in Evans Town Court at a later date.

¯ On June 9 at around 7:32 p.m., patrol was investigating an incident on Pinehart Road. Patrol allegedly found Dominick I. Munoz, 23, of Depew, in possession of a concentrated cannabis cartridge inside a sealed, labeled package. Munoz was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and taken into custody. Munoz was transported to Evans Police Station, booked and released with an appearance ticket.
