Man allegedly throws beer at police

HARMONY — On Monday, Chautauqua County Sheriff deputies were called to location in the Town of Harmony for a well being check.

While on location, Randall D. Lawergren, 62, of Panama, allegedly threw beer on and beer cans at deputies. Deputies said Lawergren later physically resisted arrest and threatened physical harm to police.

Lawergren was charged with second-degree harassment, second-degree aggravated harassment, and resisting arrest. He was held in the Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment.

HANOVER — On Monday Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the town of Hanover for an observed infraction. The operator was identified as 29 year old Zonnasage Iliohan-Blumepif of Silver Creek. Subsequent investigation lead to her arrest on chares of Driving While intoxicated. Iliohan-Blumepif was later released with citations and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hanover Court at a late date.

Dunkirk Police Department

¯ On Oct. 10, Jodi J. Messere, 40, of Dunkirk was charged with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a phone and inadequate headlights.

¯ On Oct. 11, David R. Anderson of Dunkirk was charged with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

¯ On Oct. 11, Johnny J. Vega, 33, of Dunkirk was charged with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and inadequate stop lamp.

¯ On Oct. 12, Jonathan J. Tirado, 20, of Dunkirk was charged with second degree harassment, endangering the welfare of a child, second degree criminal contempt and criminal obstruction of breathing.

¯ On Oct. 12, Jonathan M. Otero, 28, of Dunkirk was charged with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and obstructed view.

¯ On Oct. 15, Ashley N. Ortiz, 33, of Dunkirk was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Gowanda Police Department

¯ A man faces charges after allegedly punching a woman in the face, then resisting arrest.

Police were called Oct. 9 to a Commercial Street residence for a report of a disturbance. Officers were notified that William D. Frederick, 59, had been involved in a verbal altercation with a female acquaintance. This altercation escalated into Frederick allegedly punching her, causing lacerations and breaking her dentures. Officers attempted to arrest him but he physically resisted arrest and refused all directions. Arrested for third degree assault, second degree harassment and resisting arrest, Frederick was arraigned in Town of Persia Court and released on his own recognizance to appear in the court at a later date. The victim was treated at the scene by Gowanda Ambulance Service and transported to Lake Shore Hospital for further treatment.

¯ A man facing a larceny charge from 2018 failed to appear in court for a hearing and was picked up on an arrest warrant. Jamie D. Jensen, 24, was spotted by the Erie County Sheriff’s Department Oct. 18, turned over to the Gowanda police and arrested on the warrant, which was from Town of Collins Court. Jensen was arraigned and released on his own recognizance in that court on the failing to appear charge.

North Collins issues September activity

NORTH COLLINS — The North Collins Police Department has issued its report for September.

Officers were on duty for a total of 231 hours and responded to 63 calls. They issued 56 traffic tickets, including 38 for speeding and 10 for cell phone usage. Seven of the tickets were issued on Langford Road, a site of increased traffic enforcement.

A patrol was added from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first day of school to monitor school zones and compliance with school bus traffic rules.
