Stolen gravestone located in Erie

FRENCH CREEK — A gravestone stolen from the St. Mathias Cemetery on Wednesday has been located.

On Friday, members of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department did locate the marker in the city of Erie. The investigation into this matter is continuing and charges are pending.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Pennsylvania State Police with this investigation.

≤ RIPLEY — A Belmont man has been charged after an accident on Loomis Street earlier this month.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies reported Friday that about 1:43 a.m. Oct. 16, they responded to a crash in the town. Deputies identified the operator of the involved vehicle to be Joseph P. Grisewood, 25. Following an investigation into the incident, deputies charged Grisewood with DWI, a move from lane unsafely, and refusal of prescreen breath test.

Grisewood was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail for the Centralized Arraignment Program.

≤ MAYVILLE — On Oct. 17, deputies responded to a store at 17 Water St. in Mayville for a report of a past tense larceny which occurred over several days from Sept. 21 to Sept. 26. After an investigation it was determined that Eric A. Courtier, 29, of Mayville, had taken various consumable goods from the store without paying over the time period. Courtier was charged with petit larceny and issued an appearance ticket directing him to appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date to answer for the charges.

≤ HANOVER — On Wednesday at about 11:15 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop in the Town of Hanover for an observed infraction. The driver was identified Timothy E. Jones, 46, of Irving. Jones was found to be driving while intoxicated and in possession of a small quantity of marijuana. Subsequent investigation lead to his arrest for driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of marijuana, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and improper/no signal. Jones was processed for the arrest and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hanover Court at a later date to answer for these charges.

¯ ELLERY — At about 01:45 a.m. Friday, deputies on patrol stopped a vehicle for observed violations on Fluvanna-Townline Road. Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the operator as Jacqueline J. Moore, 24, of Bemus Point. Further investigation found that Moore was intoxicated while operating the vehicle.

Moore was charged with aggravated DWI per se having 0.18% or higher B.A.C., DWI, failure to keep right, moved from lane unsafely, and inadequate muffler. Moore was processed and released with citations directing her to appear in town of Ellery court at a later date.

¯ MINA — At about 3:09 a.m. Oct. 19, deputies observed a vehicle to be traveling at a high rate of speed on North Road in the town. Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the operator to be Nicole Schurman, 35, of Sherman. Following an investigation into the incident, deputies charged Schurman with DWI, DWI per se and speed in zone.

Schurman will answer her charges in Mina Town Court.
