Dunkirk man charged following drug investigation

A Dunkirk man has been taken into custody on drug related charges.

For the past several months Members of the Dunkirk Police Department and the Southern Tier Regional Drug task Force have been conducting an investigation into the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics in the City of Dunkirk. The investigation lead to arrest warrants being issued for Alex Diaz Torres, 32, of E. Second St.

Arrest warrants were issued by the city of Dunkirk Court for the charges of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

On Friday, at about 7 p.m., members police located and arrested Torres.

He was taken into custody without incident and is being held pending his arraignment at the City of Dunkirk Court.

Fight forces lockdown of Dunkirk High

Dunkirk High School was placed in a lockdown due to a fight Friday morning.

According to the district’s Facebook page, the lockdown was lifted in the afternoon.

Here was the message from the district: “As we want our community to be informed about our schools, we would like to share with you that a lockdown that was put in place at the High School this morning has been lifted. The lockdown was activated for the safety of our students as a precautionary measure for a student fight. We want to assure the parents and families that all of our students are safe.”

Westfield man charged in altercation

PORTLAND — A physical altercation on Friday morning has led to charges against a Westfield man.

At about 9:32 a.m., Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies responded to an incident that occurred at the Finley Road residence in the town. An investigation of the incident revealed that David Zapata, 30, allegedly grabbed and dragged another person throughout the residence.

During the altercation David did not allow that person to leave the residence. During the altercation David did remove a .22 caliber rifle from the residence and proceed to the wooded area behind the house.

K9 Drake was deployed into the wooded area and was able to locate the long gun in the wooded area that was used during the incident. Zapata was placed into custody without incident and taken to Chautauqua County Jail.

¯ SHERMAN — On Wednesday, troopers out of State Police in Jamestown arrested Troy Seekings, 25, of Sherman, for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

The troopers responded to Titus Road in Sherman for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. The driver, Seekings, was placed under arrest after he reportedly failed several field sobriety tests and transported to State Police in Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of .15.

Seekings was released with tickets and is scheduled to appear in the town of Sherman Court next month.

¯ RANDOLPH — On Tuesday, troopers out of State Police in Jamestown arrested Victoria Kelley, 59, of Randolph, for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

Kelley was pulled over on Main Street in Randolph for a traffic violation and after failing several field sobriety tests, Kelley was placed under arrest. She was transported to State Police in Jamestown where she provided a breath sample of .13.

Kelley was released with tickets and is scheduled to appear in the town of Randolph Court later in the month.
