Two 18-year-olds die in rollover in Olean
OLEAN — A one-car rollover accident on Barnum Road late Friday night has claimed the lives of two 18-year-olds while injuring two other juveniles.
Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident around 10:10 p.m. The two who were injured were transported to Olean General Hospital. Members of the department along with the assistance of the accident reconstruction team were investigating the accident.
Deputies were assisted by multiple local fire departments and the New York State Police. The identities of the deceased were not released.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF
PORTLAND — A Brocton resident is facing drug charges after a traffic infraction on Saturday night.
At about 6:18 p.m., Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle on Finley Road. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Floyd A. Tolbert, 50. An investigation revealed that Tolbert was in possession of a quantity of fentanyl.
Tolbert was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Portland court at a later date.
¯ CHAUTAUQUA — At about 5:54 p.m. Friday, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 430 for an observed traffic infraction. Deputies identified Christian L. Knisley, 35, of Jamestown as an occupant in the vehicle.
A further investigation found that Knisley was in violation of a valid stay away order of protection with another individual that was also in the vehicle. Knisley was taken into custody and charged with first-degree criminal contempt. Knisley was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail pending CAP arraignment. Knisley will answer to his charges in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.

¯ BRANT — State Troopers charged Joshua Lovell, 44, of Angola, with driving while ability impaired by drugs.
Lovell was pulled over Saturday on Route 5 for a traffic violation and after failing several field sobriety tests, Lovell was placed under arrest. Lovell was transported to Fredonia where he was evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert and determined to be under the influence of cannabis. Lovell provided a urine sample and was then processed, issued traffic tickets and released. Lovell is to be in the town of Brant Court later in the month.
¯ Troopers out of Jamestown charged Aaron Beatty, 27, of Jamestown, with aggravated driving while intoxicated.
Beatty was pulled over on Fairmount Avenue in Jamestown for speeding and after failing several field sobriety tests, Beatty was placed under arrest. Beatty was transported to SP Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of 0.21. Beatty was then processed, issued tickets and released. Beatty is scheduled to appear in the town of Ellicott Court next month.
¯ CHERRY CREEK — Troopers out of SP Jamestown charged Justin Huber, 26, of Sinclairville, with driving while intoxicated.
Huber was pulled over Thursday on Thornton Road for traffic violations and after failing several field sobriety tests, Huber was placed under arrest. Huber was transported to Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of 0.13. Huber was then processed, issued traffic tickets and released. Huber is scheduled to appear in the town of Cherry Creek Court next month.
¯ FALCONER — Troopers out Jamestown charged Christian Powell, 25, of Falconer, with second-degree criminal contempt on Thursday.
Approximately five days prior, Troopers responded to a residence in Falconer for a report of a violation of an order of protection. While being interviewed by the responding Troopers, the victim received multiple calls from Powell, despite being the protected party in a stay-away order against Powell.
As Powell was unable to be located, an arrest warrant was obtained through the town of Poland Court. On Thursday, Jamestown Police officers responded to Fulton and Eighth streets for a fight during which time, one of the participants was identified as Powell. Troopers responded to the scene and placed Powell under arrest. Powell was then processed at Jamestown and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.

¯ NORTH HARMONY — Around 2:31 a.m. July 31, deputies of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle to be committing numerous traffic violations.
Just prior to stopping the vehicle, the vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch, resulting in a traffic collision. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 24-year-old Dillon J. Mescall of Panama.
Mescall did not sustain any serious injuries and through further investigation was found to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Mescall was charged with DWI, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, moving from lane unsafely, insufficient taillamps, inadequate lights.
Mescall was released with tickets to appear in the Town of North Harmony Court at a later date.
