JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

Jennifer M. Allen, 38, of Jamestown, was charged with petit larceny and second-degree harassment. Patrol responded at 4 p.m. Friday to a South Main Street business. An investigation found that Allen allegedly took merchandise out of the hand of an employee. When the employee recovered the merchandise, Allen threw multiple items at the employee. Allen reportedly took several pieces of merchandise and left the store without paying. She was transported to jail without further incident. At 10:24 p.m., it was learned that Allen allegedly violated a valid stay away order of protection after officers were called to an address on the city’s north side for an unwanted person. Allen was being held for arraignment in court.

Maria K. Covert, 22, of Jamestown, was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal contempt. Officers were called at 3:38 p.m. Friday to an address on the north side of the city for a reported domestic dispute. An investigation found that Covert allegedly violated a stay away order of protection by being in the residence. Covert was transported to jail and held for arraignment.

Carlos J. Ruiz, 26, of Jamestown, was charged with second-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child resisting arrest. Patrol responded at 11:15 p.m. Saturday to the city’s east side for a reported disorderly person. It was learned that Ruiz allegedly assaulted another person who was 67 years old. During the incident, Ruiz also reportedly threw a chair, table and other items at the victim in close proximity to a child. After a brief struggle, Ruiz was taken into custody. He was held for arraignment in court.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

A reported motor-vehicle accident May 2 has led to charges for a Cassadaga man.

Deputies responded to the area of Glasgow Road and Fredonia-Stockton Road after 11 p.m. where they discovered the vehicle left the road and struck several parked cars. The operator of the suspect vehicle fled the scene on foot. Some time later, deputies were able to locate the operator of the suspect vehicle and identify him as 41-year-old Joseph P. Spayer. Through an investigation it was determined Spayer was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

Spayer was charged with aggravated DWI with 0.18% BAC or Higher, DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, moved from lane unsafely and speed not reasonable or orudent. He was released with tickets to appear in the Town of Pomfret Court. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
