CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

— SILVER CREEK — Sandhu S. Harmeet, 26, of Niagara Falls, Ontario, was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to stop at a stop sign and speed in zone. Patrol stopped a vehicle at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday in the village of Silver Creek for a traffic violation. An investigation found that Harmeet was allegedly intoxicated. Harmeet is scheduled to appear in Hanover Town Court later.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— Maria K. Covert, 23, of Jamestown, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt. Officers responded at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday to the south side of the city for a reported domestic dispute. An investigation found that Covert allegedly violated a full stay away order of protection with another person. Covert was transported to Jamestown City Jail and held for arraignment in court.

— Braxton M. Achterberg, 27, of Lakewood, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police stopped a male riding a bicycle on a public sidewalk at 6:47 p.m. Wednesday. It was found that Achterberg had an active warrant from the Jamestown Police Department. Achterberg was taken into custody and later found with Methylphenidate, a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in court later.
