A Jamestown man has been charged with first-degree grand larceny after allegedly stealing more than $1 million from his employer. Paul A. Weinstein, 60, of Jamestown was charged Monday by city police officers at Ben Weitsman of Jamestown, 610 W. Eighth St., Jamestown, after an investigation by Jamestown police and the Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office. Jamestown man killed in motorcycle crash

A Jamestown man has been killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon. Benny L. Salva, 35, of Jamestown was riding his motorcycle on Barrett Avenue near McKinley Avenue at the time of the accident. Jamestown police say the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the accident, which took place at 12:58 p.m. A portion of Barrett Avenue was closed to traffic while police investigated the accident. CHERRY CREEK CAR FIRES BEING PROBED CHERRY CREEK — At 6:09 a.m. Sunday, the Cherry Creek Fire Department responded to Dredge Ditch Road in the Town of Cherry Creek for a reported vehicle fire. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation. JAMESTOWN POLICE - John L. Alvarez, 36, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree attempted robbery July 9 after officers were dispatched to the downtown area for a reported fight. Officers located a 19-year-old laying on the ground who said he was jumped by an unknown male. Officers say they located John Lopez Alvarez nearby. Alvarez allegedly was punching and kicking the victim while he was on the ground and stated he was going to take the victim's property until a passerby yelled out and deterred Alvarez. Nearly 10,500 tickets issued in STOP-DWI campaign

The New York State Police today announced that Troopers issued a total of 10,497 tickets statewide during the Fourth of July STOP-DWI enforcement campaign. The special enforcement period began on July 3 and concluded on Sunday, July 6. Funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, the campaign included sobriety checkpoints, increased DWI patrols, and enforcement targeting drivers using handheld electronic devices.
