JAMESTOWN – David Clark, a nationally renowned gardening speaker and horticulture instructor, will give the keynote presentation at the 2014 Gardens and Landscapes Day hosted by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County Master Gardener Program & Jamestown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education at Jamestown Community College on March 1.

Clark is a multi-talented educator, floral designer, event director, garden show judge and successful wholesale florist with over 30 years’ experience in the Ornamental Horticulture Industry. He is featured in television segments, online video, the National Garden Festival website, the Buffalo-NiagaraGardening.com online magazine, the Buffalo News, The Upstate Gardeners Journal and Buffalo’s “Spree Magazine”.

Clark teaches the 4-level Horticulture Certification Program at The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens and his horticulture classes are listed as a “Go to Event” on The Buffalo Niagara Visitor’s Bureau website.

Clark is also an official trainer for the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C., and The Lady Bird Johnson Wildlife Center in Austin Texas, for a Sustainable Landscape Program called Landscape For Life.

In addition to Clark’s presentation, there will be three more gardening workshops given by local experts Jon and Priscilla Titus, professor of biology at Fredonia State and ecologist, respectively; Patty Eckwahl, Chautauqua County Master Gardener and Hank Miller, bonsai master. Topics will include Invasive Plants and Native Alternatives, From Rust to Riches Adding Spunk and Funk Through Garden Art and The Art of Designing Bonsai.

It will be a day of educational opportunities for home gardeners at all interest levels from the casual gardener to the garden enthusiast to the advanced master gardener. It also gives participants an opportunity to hear and talk to regionally renowned authorities on various aspects of garden design, maintenance and plant selection. The day will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. The cost for the event is $40 and includes a catered lunch. To register, call JCC Center for Continuing Education 338-1005. Space is limited.
