Farmers Market coming to Cassadaga
CASSADAGA — A new farmers market is coming to the village of Cassadaga on Sunday afternoons this summer. Beginning June 18 through Labor Day weekend, a number of vendors from the Fredonia Farmers Market will sponsor a weekly farmers market in Ames Commons on the corner of Route 60 and Maple Avenue from 12:30 until 3:30 p.m. Local farmers and artisans will offer produce, meats, dairy products, baked goods, jams, jellies, maple syrup, honey, quilted items, jewelry and more.
The new market is a collaborative effort between the Fredonia Farmers Market and Citizens for a Better Cassadaga.
“The residents in our area have had a strong interest in having a local farmers market, and we are delighted that the Fredonia Farmers Market, with its experience and management expertise, has agreed to establish a weekly market in the village,” said Peter George, vice president of Citizens for a Better Cassadaga.
“Cassadaga has a rich agricultural heritage in western New York, and is a perfect fit for our farmers and artisans looking for new marketing opportunities,” said Margaret Bruegel, president of the market.
The Fredonia Farmers Market is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a marketplace for high-quality locally grown food and handcrafted products for the community, offer healthy food options, promote a strong local economy, and contribute to the preservation of small family farms. Produce vendors at the Cassadaga market participate in the NYS Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), Women Infants and Children Vegetables and Fruits Program (WIC VF), and several vendors are able to process SNAP (EBT) transactions.
