Trinity United Church of Christ free community meal set for Oct. 9
GOWANDA — The Trinity United Church, located at Erie Avenue and Park Street, will host a take-out only free community meal at the Park Street entrance from 4 to 6 p.m. Patrons are asked to bring their own bag and wear a mask. The menu includes ziti with meat sauce, fruit cup, bread and butter and a cookie. Free will donations are appreciated but not necessary. Drive East Main to Railroad Avenue and then down Park Street, following the signs, or walk up.
The next meal will be Nov. 13.
Barker Library sets story times
Join Darwin R. Barker Library this October for virtual storytime via Zoom! The library will read stories on the following mornings at 10:30 a.m.: Oct. 8, 15, 18, 22 and 25. Craft supply bags with instructions for three crafts will be available for pickup at the library this week and while supplies last.
All programs are free of charge and all children are welcome. To register for storytime and crafts, please send an e-mail including child’s name and a phone number to childrenslibrarian@barkerlibrary.org
County seeking volunteers for reapportionment panel
Chautauqua County Legislature Chairman Pierre Chagnon is seeking interested individuals willing to serve on a bipartisan Reapportionment Commission to assist the County Legislature in evaluating the existing County legislative districts as a result of the population data provided by the 2020 Census. The Commission will be charged with studying the 2020 Census population data with the assistance of county staff. Within three months the commission will make recommendations, if necessary, in the form of a local law as to changes in the boundaries of County legislative districts to be effective at the end of the then terms of office of incumbent county legislators. Individuals who may be interested in serving on this commission are asked to email Kathy Tampio, Clerk of the Legislature at tampiok@chqgov.com.
American Legion sets monthly meeting
The Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62 monthly meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at 211 Central Ave. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month. Legion members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome.
Quilt group meets Saturday
WESTFIELD — Westfield Quilters’ Guild will meet Saturday at 10 a.m. in the YWCA in Westfield. This month’s program is all about the Red and White Block Exchange, including a trunk show of block exchange quilts. The group will discuss setting options, troubleshooting mis-sized blocks, size options, block themes, and piecing and ironing tips. The group has 19 participants so far. It’s not too late to join.
The guild is growing and more members are welcome to bring a lunch and join on Saturday morning for fellowship, learning, and lots of fun. If you’d like to sew after lunch, bring your machine. We hope to see you there.
