Historical Society meets today

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society will hold its first meeting of 2022 today at the Sinclairville Fire Hall. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. and attendees will be making maple cream. There will also be a short history on maple syrup. Everyone is asked to bring a small bowl and a spoon to stir the maple syrup into maple cream. Anyone interested in local history is invited to attend.

School board to hold work session

NORTH COLLINS — The North Collins Central School Board will hold a work session at 6:30 p.m. today in the North Collins Junior-Senior High School library/media center.

Village board gathers

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Village Board will hold its organizational meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the village office, 8 Lester St., Sinclairville. All those interested are welcome to attend.

Dinner event benefits pantry

FORESTVILLE — A drive-through chicken and biscuit dinner to benefit the Forestville Food Pantry from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 at St. Rose of Lima Hall, 11 Center St. The costs is $12 and includes chicken over biscuits, salad, vegetable and dessert. Legion auxiliary meets April 12

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 monthly meeting is Tuesday, April 12, at 6:30 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend to help further our mission to help veterans and the community.

The East Dunkirk Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting its April Chiavetta’s Chicken BBQ on Wednesday. Dinners will be served 4 to 6 p.m. or sold out. Take out or drive-through options available. Tickets are $12 and are available at Big Rick’s One Stop. The Fire Hall is located at 10949 S. Roberts Rd in Dunkirk. Drama club plans performance

SOUTH DAYTON — Miss Heidi’s Drama Club will be performing Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland adapted by Kathryn Miller at 7 p.m. April 29 and 30. The doors open at 6:30. There will be raffle items and a bake sale during intermission. Tickets are only $7 and no tickets will be sold at the door. This is their first live performance since the pandemic started. The kids are super excited to transform the South Dayton fire hall into a magical wonderland. All children attending will have a chance to be in the show! This community group is well know for their audience participation. Join the queen of hearts for a game of Croquet, be a part of the jury of monkeys but most of all sit back and enjoy a magical night with family and friends.

Society extends adoption hours

The Lakeshore Humane Society will resume mid-week Open Adoption Hours beginning Wednesday, April 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. These weekly Wednesday evening adoption opportunities will be in addition to LHS’s weekly Saturday Open Adoption Hours from noon to 3 pm. The LHS Adoption Center is located at 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk. The public is welcome to see the dogs and cats in need of loving homes. Tours of the facility will not be given during these times.

If unable to come to an adoption event, leave a message at 716-672-1991 to arrange an appointment to meet the dogs and cats awaiting adoption; press “1” for dogs or “2” for cats. (People must be 21 years of age or older to adopt a pet.)

Can drive to help fund local prom

SILVER CREEK — Are you looking for an easy way to support Earth Day in April? The Class of 2022 and the Class of 2023 of Silver Creek High invite the community to consider supporting the junior/senior prom via a can drive scheduled Thursday, April 21, at the SCCS band doors, 1 Dickinson St., from 4 to 6 p.m.

Proceeds will help fund the annual traditional end-of-academic-year dance for Black Knight upperclassmen. The public is also encouraged to donate anytime in the month of April by dropping any donations at Can Kings Can Redemption Center, located at Routes 5 and 20 in Irving, under “Silver Creek Prom.”
