Safe Halloween event

is Sunday

A Safe Halloween event for elementary aged children will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday. The event will include games and candy and take place in the Steele Hall natatorium lobby. It is being sponsored by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and will allow for trick or treaters and parents to meet the Fredonia athletes.

Council helping Rural Ministry

The Dunkirk Area Labor Council would like to announce its newest Community Outreach Project. The council is working on a community project to help Rural Ministries feed people during the upcoming holidays season. Union locals, Union members and Union supporters, are asked to donate a Tops or Aldi gift card, in any amount and mail them to: Dunkirk Area Labor Counci c/o Don Williams, PO Box 1188, Dunkirk, NY 14048-1188

Anyone interested in donating, but not wanting to mail gift cards can contact Williams at (716) 680-2549 for other donation pickup arrangements. The council is hoping to make the donation at the Nov. 15 meeting.

Sheridan Dems meet Oct. 27

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Democratic Committee will hold a meeting Thursday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Sheridan VFW, 2556 Route 20. Thursdays are pizza and wing nights at the post.

All residents of the town of Sheridan who are registered Democratic voters are invited to attend and are considered members. The Chautauqua County committee has asked all towns to hold a meeting for the purpose of reorganization, and election of chairs and representatives to the county committee. The objective of the committee is to encourage and support local Democratic candidates and help them get elected to local governmental positions. Sons of Legion meet Oct. 25

The Sons of American Legion Squad 59 will be holding their monthly meeting on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia. All SAL Squadron 59 are encouraged to attend the meetings which are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month.
