Church plans Epiphany Tea Trinity Church Women will be holding their 91st Epiphany Tea on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. in Garland Hall behind Trinity Episcopal Church, 11 Day St. Fredonia. This tea is a yearly event that is held during the Epiphany season which goes from Jan. 6 until Ash Wednesday. In years gone by it was a very fancy tea for all the church women and others from Episcopal Church. Barbecue, can drive set for Jan. 24 The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name society will be hosting a Weidner's drive-through chicken BBQ and can drive on Wednesday, Jan. 24 in the Blessed Mary Angela Social Center at 324 Townsend Street in Dunkirk from 4 to 6 p.m. The dinner will include a 1/2 grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, a roll and butter. The Holy Name Society will also be accepting your deposit cans and bottles, just drive around the back of the social center and we will be glad to unload your vehicle. Dunkirk notes closings, reminders due to storm In anticipation of the extreme high winds and winter weather event, Dunkirk Mayor Kate Wdowiasz, the city’s Police & Fire Department as well as the Department of Public Works has issued the following announcements and reminders. -- The City Pier as well as Point Gratiot closed at 12:30 p.m. Friday in expectation of the storm. Outage impacts city school Friday A partial power outage impacted the Dunkirk City School District on Friday. In a note posted on Facebook, the district said it was implementing the emergency go-home procedure at the secondary school on Friday afternoon. Students who were transported by bus were provided transportation at the usual dismissal time.
