U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, said about $800 million for Upstate New York and New York state, separate from New York City, is on the way to help ensure the coronavirus vaccine and other coronavirus care efforts will be available. Deaths from COVID-19 climb in Cattaraugus County

Cattaraugus County Health Department announced during the holiday the death total tied to COVID-19 has hit 40. The 39th recorded death was an 98-year-old female who developed respiratory failure. The 40th recorded death was a 94 year old male who also developed respiratory failure. Through Thursday, the Health Department reported 2,204 total cases with 529 active. Recoveries from the virus totaled 1,635 and 37 were hospitalized.

Cattaraugus County reports 3 new COVID deaths, 14 cases

The Cattaraugus County Department of Health reported three additional COVID-related deaths Saturday evening. The deaths, involving a 44-year-old man, 92-year-old woman and 71-year-old man, mark 44 to date in the county and six in the last three days. “We extend our deepest condolences to their family and the entire Cattaraugus County community,” the county Health Department said. Earlier Saturday, health officials reported the 41st COVID-related death and 48 new cases for Christmas Day.
