Brant woman pleads guilty in 2018 Collins crash
BUFFALO — Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 26-year-old Kalah Schultz of Brant pleaded guilty to before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek to one count of first-degree vehicular assault, a Class D felony. The defendant pleaded guilty to the highest sustainable charge on Tuesday.
The defendant admitted that on Dec. 10, 2018, at approximately 8 p.m., she was driving on Route 438 on the Seneca Nation of Indians territory in the town of Collins when her vehicle collided with another.
All five people from the other vehicle were taken by ambulance to ECMC to be evaluated, and three suffered injuries as a result of the crash.
Schultz faces a maximum of seven years in prison when she is sentenced on Oct. 15 at 9:30 a.m. She was released on her own recognizance.
DA Flynn commends the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit for their work in the investigation.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christopher M. McCarthy of the Vehicular Crimes Bureau.
