Maruader Trotter 5k to go virtual on July 4

The Marauder Trotter 5k is going virtual this year. The annual race which takes place July 4 is changing things up in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement to the Dunkirk Common Council from Scott Mekus, event manager and DJ Wilson, race director, the Marauder Trotter will be open to online registration with participants completing the run/walk on their own. Participants can register to run or walk the designed normal waterfront route through Runsignup and then complete the course between any hours July 4 weekend (Friday, Saturday or Sunday).

Racers can also record their race results and route through the RaceJoy app and out-of-towners can do their own 5k race anywhere they wish and report results.

Mekus and Wilson still request that all participants sign online waivers and Eventz by Scott has already turned in the insurance certificate just in case. In addition David Reinhardt of Tracqua will certify this course so it is an official 5k.
