Fredonia gets its Facebook back up
The village of Fredonia’s Facebook page was down part of the day Wednesday leading some to wonder if it had if fact been deleted.
“I believe that Doug did delete the page,” former Fredonia Mayor Athanasia Landis stated. “People have been messaging me that they had no way to get any information about the water or anything else.”
Mayor Doug Essek explained to the OBSERVER on Thursday that the page was removed briefly to go through it.
“Between COVID-19 and the water emergency there were a lot of questions asked on it and it was getting out of control,” Essek stated. “We wanted to go through it and answer what we could.”
Essek was surprised that the temporary removal of the page was such an issue.
“We really don’t need a Facebook page,” Essek added. “What we have to have is a website, and that we have.”
The website was also currently down Wednesday as upgrades were done.
“We’ll be reevaluating and discussing all of this at our upcoming meeting,” Essek said.
Currently, both the webpage and Facebook page are back up.
