Silver Creek concert
Local folk musician Nan Hoffman will perform a free concert at 10:30 a.m. in the pavilion in the ball park behind the Anderson-Lee Library in Silver Creek. Those attending should bring a chair and a lunch to enjoy in the park after the show.
Mayville’s Farmers’ Market
Mayville Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market is held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mayville Village Park, at the traffic light at Route 394 and Route 430, Mayville. It features farmers and artisans, with special events TBA.
Music on the Pier concert
A concert in the “Music on the Pier” concert series in Dunkirk’s Memorial Park features a group TBA from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the Eaglez Tribute Band from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.The event is free to the public. Ice chests are allowed.
Cherry Creek Gazebo concert
The traditional country music band “Nip ‘N Tuck” will perform at the Cherry Creek Ball Park Pavilion at 6:30 p.m., rain or shine. Bring lawn chairs. Supper-type refreshments will be available.
Mayville concert
Mayville’s Entertainment in the Park Series begins with the Derek Davis Duo performing from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Lakeside Park, 78 Water St., Mayville. In 2020 Derek joined up with Robert L. Gilbert Jr. on percussion, performing new country, old country, 90s and classic rock. Attendees will follow all COVID and social distancing guidelines. St. John’s United Church of Christ hot dog lunch
St. John’s United Church of Christ will hold a hot dog lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Meals will include a hot dog, chips, and soda for just $3.
Gowanda VFW Post drive- through barbecue
GOWANDA ä Gowanda VFW Post 5007, 20 Sand Hill Road, will hold a drive-through chicken barbecue or chicken and ribs barbecue on Friday, July 16 from 3 to 6 p.m. The costs are $14 for chicken and ribs or $12 for chicken. Payment is via cash only. Ribs are in limited supply. The menu includes half chicken or a quarter chicken and ribs, salt potatoes, cole slaw and roll.
Fredonia History Days at the Fairgrounds
The Fredonia History Days will take place at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds in or around Floral Hall from 5 to 8 p,m. Events include Car/Bike Show, JJ’s BBQ chicken and pork dinners, Fredonia Grange No. 1 burgers and hot dogs, craft and antique vendors and V-SYX performs.

Audubon MAPS bird banding demonstration
Drop in between 6 a.m. to noon to observe the capture of birds in “mist” nets, fitting them with identification bands, measuring, weighing and releasing them. Come to the pavilion on the West Side of the Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Drive, Jamestown close to Route 62. The demonstration is free, but donations are appreciated. Do not bring dogs.
BCS Alumni golf tournament
The tournament begins at 8 a.m. at The tournament has an 8 a.m. start at Pine Hurst Golf Course in Westfield. $70 per golfer includes golf, prizes and a hot dogs and hamburger lunch at the turn, skins available. There will be 50/50 drawings and some nice raffle prizes. Register as a team of four, or individuals will randomly be assigned to a team. Contact Jon Espersen at 467-8328.

South Dayton Volunteer Fire Department 1975 and older farm stock antique tractor pull
The event will be held at 34 Maple St., South Dayton. $5 admission fee, $10 hitch fees for pulls, which begin at noon. Gates open at 9, scales open at 10, kids’ pedal pull at 11, pulled pork sandwiches and potatoes for sale beginning at 11:30 a.m. The Firebells will have a refreshment stand. Lakeshore Humane Society open adoption
The Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, will hold open adoption hours from noon to 3 p.m. Masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn at all times on the grounds of LHS. Brocton Central School Alumni Association Weidner’s chicken and rib barbecue
The Brocton Central School Alumni Association will hold a Weidner’s chicken and rib barbecue at the Brocton Legion Post 434, with proceeds benefiting BCS scholarships. Dining options are from 4 to 6 p.m. and include drive through to pick up, or park and eat inside. The meal consists of Weidner’s barbecued chicken and ribs, buttered spuds, coleslaw, roll and butter with a cookie compliments of Emily’s Bakery. Tickets are $15 per dinner and can be purchased at the Legion on Thursday or Friday nights or by calling Kathy Peters at 792-7582.
