Ripley man injured after being struck by train

RIPLEY --- A Ripley resident escaped serious injury after being struck by a train Saturday evening. Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies responded with the Ripley Fire Department and New York State Police to a reported train-versus-pedestrian incident around 9:20 p.m. It was reported the pedestrian attempted to cross the tracks before the train crossed which resulted in the pedestrian being struck. Two longtime Gowanda employees retire

GOWANDA — The Gowanda Board of Education has recently accepted several resignations, including two for the purpose of retirement. Janene Draegert is set to retire as a Keyboard Specialist at the end of the school year after 26 years with the district. Draegert said in her letter of resignation, “I truly have enjoyed my time at GCS and was fortunate enough to have worked with so many wonderful students and staff over the past 26 years.” Barbara Krawczyk will retire as a Physical Therapist on Aug. 25 after 33 years with the district.
