SILVER CREEK — The village fountain continued to be the hot topic at the Village Board’s meeting this week as the board approved the purchase of a lighting system and waterproof junction box, along with all installation hardware, from RingTru Fountain Spray Rings at a cost of $1,379.

Trustee Warren Kelly provided an update to the room on the progress of the fountain. “The basin is scheduled for the aqua-coating by Colley’s Pools on July 29 and 30,” he noted, adding. “New electrical is being installed either the second or third week of July.”

Kelly went on to say, “Hopefully we have the fountain ring and lights within two to three weeks. Everything is starting to fall in place. … My guess is mid-August it should be done.”

The board also amended a purchase approved last meeting for the fountain’s spray ring, changing the price from $1,500 to $1,700 with the addition of a second spray ring. “We’ve altered the design of the ring, from a one-ring,” Mayor Jeffrey Hornburg said of the change. “To a two-ring, which increased the purchase.”

In other news, Wayne Hotelling was present to ask the board for permission to use the Village Park and track for the 2019 Laurel Memorial Run & Walk. The board unanimously approved Hotelling’s request for the July 20 event.

Trustee John Burt also mentioned that the skew arch bridge on Jackson Street turned 150 years old this year, and a way to honor the unique piece of architecture is currently being discussed, possibly to be included in this year’s annual Grape Festival.

The next meeting of the Silver Creek Village Board will be Monday, July 15 at 7 p.m.
