On July 10, the Lake Shore Street Rods held their 50th annual Harbor Cruise at Point Gratiot in Dunkirk, which simultaneously served to honor Dan Salerno, who was one of the founding members of the club.

And after not having a cruise in 2020 during the pandemic and having to deal with rain last year, this year, the event was very successful. Nearly 600 cars were in attendance for the event, and a total of $11,000 was raised. Those funds were donated to three different charities, including Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels, Chautauqua County Veterans, and Kids at Promise Inc.

Kids at Promise Inc. was chosen by Epoxy Plus, who donated a $3,000 garage floor makeover as part of the cause, and were repaid by selecting a charity. Jeff Contino of Forestville won the garage floor makeover.

Sponsors of this year’s event were Shults Resale Center of Dunkirk, Zambotti Collision, Arkwright Printing the ARK Shop, Fredonia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Allegheny-Erie Incorporated and Fredonia Ford. Proceeds from the events are always donated to local charities.
