It appears there will be a Farm Festival this summer.

The village of Fredonia has announced the event will take place in Barker Common and include music, food and craft vendors, and community activities on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 24 and 25.

This year’s festival will be sponsored by DFT Communications, Kravitz Tree Service, and Chautauqua County and organized by an independent committee co-chaired by Lauren Boyle and Greg Krauza.

“I am so proud and thankful for the way the community embraced this event,” village Mayor Michael Ferguson said. “We are lucky to have so many individuals and businesses that reached out to me to offer their resources. I made it clear a few weeks ago we need this festival to continue and I am happy to say the Fredonia Farm Festival will be here for its 56th year.”

Planning has begun, but is in the initial stages. Chairs Boyle and Krauza are excited to lead the committee but were quick to point out this is a community event.

“We will need a lot of help and support from individuals and businesses throughout the community in order to have an event we are all proud of.”

The committee is grateful for all of the support we have already received and look forward to maintaining the core events of past Farm Festivals while also planning to add some new ideas. We are committed to the values of this festival including honoring our farm community, growing the family atmosphere, highlighting local entertainers and of course, the parade.

The organizers and committee are so thankful to have the full support of Ferguson, the village of Fredonia, County Executive PJ Wendel, and major sponsors.

The committee will be working closely with Festivals Fredonia and past organizers, Mark Mackey and Melissa Thompson to ensure a smooth transition.

In the near future, information will be available for volunteer opportunities, becoming a food or craft vendor, and participating in the parade on the ‘Fredonia Farm Festival’ Facebook page and www.farmfestivalfredonia.com. If any businesses or individuals are interested in sponsoring an event or activity they can email farmfestivalfredonia@gmail.com.
