Dunkirk music series canceled tonight

Dunkirk’s music series is canceled tonight. Music in Memorial Park is not happening due to thunderstorms and heavy rain, the city’s Festivals and Special Events division posted on social media. It was supposed to be “Canadian Night.” There was no word on rescheduling of the event. There are two rain dates at the end of the city’s music series calendar. A strong line of storms came up Chautauqua County’s Lake Erie coastline after 1 p.m. There was minor street flooding observed in Fredonia and reported in Dunkirk.

Casella remains part of landfill death lawsuit

Casella Waste Management will remain party to a lawsuit filed by the estate of a man who was killed in 2020 at the Chautauqua County Landfill in Ellery. On Aug. 3, 2020, Scott Deming was standing behind a large pile of garbage and debris he had just dumped at the landfill in Ellery when he was hit by a bulldozer driven by a county employee.
