Richard A. Gens

Dick was born Dec. 19, 1935 in Buffalo, son of the late Raymond and Alice Parr Gens. He graduated from Dunkirk High School and was a Chautauqua County resident most of his life. Dick was a veteran in the United States Army and the Army Reserves.

Dick was employed for 25 years at True Temper, Dunkirk as an assembler until its closing and then was employed for nearly 20 years at Cummins, Jamestown until his retirement.

In addition to having owned and boarded 15-20 horses over the years, Dick also raised livestock. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing football while in High School, and later being an avid skier, snowmobiler and hunter.

His biggest joy was being able to attend Buffalo Bills and Sabres games with his sons and grandchildren.

Husband of 37 years to Carol M. Gens (Golibersuch), whom he married July, 1979; father of Sean (Andrea) Anderson of Ohio and Todd Anderson of Endwell; grandfather of Alec (Kaci), Krista, Josh and Jon Anderson; great-grandfather of Gavin Anderson; brother of Peggy (late William) Heiden of Dunkirk. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville, with a Funeral service immediately following. Military honors to be provided by Cassadaga Memorial American Legion 1280. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to Cherry Creek VFD at P.O. Box 204, Cherry Creek, NY 14723.
